TSIBA is one of the NGO’s we collaborated with during the project in July 2019. TSIBA started in 2004 with a small university in South Africa. Their aim is to change the perception that access to tertiary education is unavailable to many talented young people. In the years after, TSIBA grew into a social enterprise collective that has a reach all around the globe. Among other things, they offer a Business Administration scholarship including leadership and self-development at little to no cost for the students.
Loyiso Koyana, born and raised in Cape Town, recruited people for our ‘Make A Difference Project’. Loyiso has been working for TSIBA for over ten years now. Besides his work at TSIBA, Loyiso is engaged in creating and working on other projects. One of them is engaging the different local communities with the wine industry of South Africa, because currently only a small group within South Africa is benefiting from it.
Combining his own projects with the work at TSIBA, Loyiso is able to combine two of his passions; entrepreneurship and empowering communities (like Gugulethu and Khayelitsha). Loyiso praises the Make A Difference Program: “Even a person who is not well educated can understand and use the Business Model Canvas at the end of the workshop”. He shared multiple success stories with us from students that started a business during or after the Make A Difference project. These stories are very inspiring and energizing for the upcoming project.
K2S is very thankful for the pleasant partnership it has with TSIBA. Our ambassadors are invited by Loyiso to his favorite bar in Kayelitsha and they are looking forward to it!
